A former staff development
director and classroom teacher, Joan Vandervelde began creating unique
Web-based learning experiences to help her do what she enjoyed doing
most: designing and delivering online instruction. Interactive InstructOnline,
L.L.C., founded in 1998, is now a leading developer for online training
and educational web sites.
Today the company
includes a team of experienced, innovative
instructional
designers, graphic artists, and web designers, K-12, community college and university instructors, and subject matter experts from a wide variety of disciplines.
The team assists
universities, community colleges and technical colleges, museum educators, and national heritage area education coordinators in developing customized web-based courses, workshops and educational websites.
Online workshops, courses, and certificate programs
have been delivered in partnership with Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area, the Division of Health Management at Des Moines University - Osteopathic Medical Center, the University of Northern Iowa, University of Wisconsin System Learning and Information Technology, and University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Over the past five years, the team has developed over 50 online teacher education courses.
